Comparison of the effect of aqueous extract of Artemisia herba alba and procaine penicillin on healing induced defect of the ear cartilage

This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of aqueous extract Artemisia herba alba (Asteraceae) and procaine penicillin on healing induced defect ear cartilage. A total (25) female rats which used in this were distributed randomly into five treatment group(five animals per each). Under routine surgery, all had circular holes elastic cartilage their ears. All groups treated with local application daily for one week. Control group(C) normal saline only. First group(T1) 5% extract, second group(T2) 10% third group(T3) 15% fourth group(T4) penicillin. The results showed that there no significant differences between group except (T3) other (1.857± 0.293). It could be concluded concentration at (T3)affected significantly reduce diameter after three weeks treatment, result histo pathological test reveal complete healing, absence scar tissue, both edges fused together marked fibrosis formed large blood vessels.
